IT’S finally the end of the anxious wait as thousands of pupils receive their exam results today.

This year will have unique stress after exams were cancelled for the first time in more than 100 years due to the Covid-19 crisis and instead youngsters are being graded on their coursework.

Developing the Young Workforce Glasgow is again running its #NoWrongPath campaign with support for pupils who are disappointed in their results.

#NoWrongPath looks to highlight the options available through less traditional and obvious routes after leaving school and that exam results are not necessarily the key to unlocking future success.

For the past three years, the award-winning campaign has seen the hashtag #NoWrongPath trend at number one in the UK on Twitter on results day, with members of the public and celebrities including First Minister Nicola Sturgeon and Still Game actor Scott Reid participating.

Stuart Patrick, chief executive of Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, said: “I would encourage businesses, education hubs and people across the city to share their path with young people, encouraging them to look ahead no matter what their results.”

People can get involved in the social media campaign by posting a photograph of their own path into work on social media.

Childline is also offering support to young people with its helpline on 0800 1111 or website at www.childline.org.uk.

Shaun Friel, head of Childline, said: “It is so important they have someone there to listen to how they are feeling and to discuss their options.”

Tomorrow’s Glasgow Times will take an in-depth look at how the city’s schools have performed.
