Former Coronation Street star Gray O'Brien has revealed he has been battling cancer for a year.

The Scottish actor updated his fans on the progress of his treatment and in a video message yesterday, he said: "Hi it's August 4, 2020 and it is exactly a year since this whole situation started."

In another post, he added: "A year ago today I went to my GP with swollen glands and so started my journey."

The 51-year-old, who played Tony Gordon in the ITV soap, previously said he had stage four tonsil cancer.

Last November, he shared an emotional clip of himself ringing the bell to mark the end of his treatment at the Beatson.

One fan said: "Sending lots of positivity and support for your Gray. Stay strong, you're doing amazingly well."

Another added: "Raising a glass to you Mr O'Brien. You look truly fabulous. Stay strong and well and thank you for updating us on your recovery."
