INVERCLYDE'S MSP has praised local schools for the way they have adapted and got themselves ready for the new term after a five-month closure.

Stuart McMillan says staff deserve praise for the way they have set things up.

He said: “The pandemic has been particularly hard for children and young people, as they have had to adapt to home learning during lockdown.

“After visiting Port Glasgow High School, I am confident that schools locally have invested significant time and effort into preparing for staff and pupils’ return – putting their safety and wellbeing at the heart of this activity.
