SHOPPERS can donate to people in need at two supermarkets this week.
The Tesco Extra stores in Greenock and Port Glasgow will be hosting food collections from store opening on Thursday until store closing on Saturday.
Tesco's appeal has been organised in direct response to the extra pressures faced by foodbanks and community groups as a result of the pandemic.
Donations will help groups supported by food charities FareShare and the Trussell Trust.
Tesco will top up all customer donations with an additional 20 per cent donation in cash to the two charities.
Leah Baillie, the Trussell Trust’s area manager for Inverclyde, said: "Every donation made during Tesco’s summer food collection will help foodbanks in our network provide the best possible emergency help to people at an uncertain time.”
