A BID has been launched to boost the number of people in Inverclyde on the stem cell donor list.

It currently stands at 1,000 and MSP Stuart McMillan wants that number to increase.

Mr McMillan said: "Every year in the UK around 2,000 blood cancer patients need a stem cell donor to save their life, but too often they pass away waiting for a match.

"Inverclyde currently has 1,000 potential lifesavers on the register.

"Let's increase that figure to save more lives."
