INVERCLYDE'S population continues to decline as the number of deaths in the district continues to outstrip births.
The latest figures - for the year to July 2019 - show that 1,010 people died compared with only 653 births in the area.
This, coupled with more leaving the area than moving in, resulted in a small overall fall of 350 - taking the population down to 77,800.
Projections show that if the current trend continues Inverclyde could lose almost 8,000 people over the next 15 years.
