DRIVERS are facing days of misery on the roads as work begins to repair a flood at a busy junction.

Scottish Water have confirmed that temporary four-way traffic lights will be in operation on Manor Crescent in Gourock from today.

Scottish Water says that the road traffic management measures are being introduced to allow a faulty valve below the road to be repaired.

It is expected that the repair and reinstatement of the lights will take three days.

The work at the junction, which leads onto Cardwell Road and Cove Road, is expected to ramp up the already significant congestion in the area.

Drivers have been using Cardwell Road and Eldon Street to avoid the traffic around works which are already in place on Inverkip Road.

A Scottish Water spokesperson said: "We are aware of an issue on our network in this area and work to repair a faulty valve is planned to take place today.

"Temporary road traffic management will be required to ensure the safety of our workers while the repair is carried out.

"Four-way traffic lights will be in operation but will be removed as soon as the repair has been completed.

"We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this might cause for road users."
