A KNIFE thug who attacked and terrified a woman within her Greenock home after their two-month internet dating relationship turned sour has had his sentence further deferred.

Martin Elliot had been due to learn his fate at the sheriff court last week but a sheriff postponed disposing of the case until an assessment into a possible supervised release order is carried out.

Sheriff Joseph Hughes has also instructed prosecutors to obtain information from the victim in order for full consideration to be given to the imposition of a non-harassment order.

Elliot armed himself with a blade then punched his victim, pushed her up against a wall and held the knife at her face on May 12.

A 12-year-old child who witnessed the shocking incident managed to alert police who arrived at the property near the West Station 'immediately'.

The case is due to call again on September 30.
