A HITLIST of alleged target addresses in Greenock which could be petrol bombed has been published online following a FOURTH deliberate blaze attack.

As a series of orchestrated firebombings in the town rapidly spirals out of control, screenshot images of two houses at either end of the town were posted on social media on a warped page entitled 'Burning soon', alongside sinister messages saying they could be hit next.

One address is in the Strone and the other Branchton, while three individuals were named in a written threat.

It's understood authorities are aware of the page and its content.

Chilling messages written by the anonymous poster who created the page even referred to a '£2k call-off fee' to prevent fires, along with a disturbing threat to 'try me'.

It appeared after pleas from senior detectives for the fire-raising madness to stop were blatantly ignored when a flat in Kincaid Court was torched in what is understood to be a targeted attack.

Video clips of the fire were published alongside the online threats.

Emergency services rushed to the scene just after 10pm on Monday and spent all day yesterday guarding it, with part of the road next to the flats sealed off.

Residents from neighbouring flats had to be evacuated as flames shot up the building but no one was injured.

It follows three identical incidents over the last fortnight which are all believed to be linked and related to an ongoing feud between two criminal camps known to the police.

The first blaze saw Greenock man George Miller, 46, burn to death in a back garden as he accidentally set himself alight while trying to torch a flat in Union Street.

A mum was then badly burned after a fire at a flat in Wellington Street which police described as a 'sickening, unprovoked attack', before another blaze happened in Cumberland Road in Larkfield a couple of days later.

Now detectives are probing the latest incident in the spate of attacks.

Police Scotland said: "Enquiries are at an early stage following a fire at a flat in Kincaid Court, Greenock around 10.20pm on Monday.

"No one was injured and a joint investigation is ongoing to establish the cause of the fire, however at this time it is being treated as wilful."

When asked about a link to the three previous petrol bomb attacks in the town, the force replied: "We are keeping an open mind at this time and cannot rule anything out at this early stage."

A Scottish Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 10.09pm on Monday to reports of a fire within a bottom floor flat at Kincaid Court.

“Operations control mobilised four appliances to the four-storey building.

“Firefighters extinguished the fire in the unoccupied flat.

“There were no reported casualties."
