DETECTIVES are today probing a murder bid in Port Glasgow which has left a man fighting for his life.
Police were called to Woodhall Railway Station late on Thursday night after reports of a disturbance.
Two men were taken to Inverclyde Royal and one of them has since been transferred to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where he is in a critical condition.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 10.20pm on Thursday, officers were called to Woodhall Railway Station in Port Glasgow following a report of an altercation.
"Two men, aged 25 and 30, were taken to Inverclyde Royal Hospital and the 30-year-old was subsequently transferred to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he is described as being in a critical but stable condition."
Woodhall Station was taped off by police and remains closed.
Trains are not being allowed to stop there and access to the footbridge is blocked.
Police say inquiries are 'ongoing' and anyone with information should contact officers on 101, quoting reference number 3658 of October 1.
