MORTON officials have apologised after their live stream of last night’s Betfred Cup curtain-raiser against Queen of the South crashed — as irate fans demanded refunds following the technical glitch.

Supporters who had paid £10 to watch the club’s official streaming service took to a popular fans’ forum and social media to complain after the Ton’s penalty shootout defeat to the Doonhamers.
Investment group Morton Club Together said in a statement that they had 'expressed concerns' about Ton's new website being able to cope with the level of traffic but had received assurances.
Last night's group game ended in Morton losing 4-2 on penalties after a 2-2 draw.
Morton wouldn't comment on whether refunds would be issued or not, saying they will 'look at the situation fully first'.
A club spokesperson told the Tele: “We had tested the systems and there was a lot of activity late on prior to the game.
“The technical people who we are using have done this many times and they identified very early on that there was an issue and we made the decision to move the event to the club’s YouTube channel.
“We’ve learned a lot of lessons from it and we apologise to the people who have been put out by it.
“If there is any positive side, we had over 3,000 people view the game, but we will be addressing the issues over the next couple of days so that they are all ironed out in time for Saturday’s match against Queens Park.
“We’re a football club, we’re not technical internet gurus, but we’ve brought folk in who can do that.
“We will have a debrief about this because as a club we want to identify where we went wrong with this and quickly remedy this.
“Refunds cannot be discussed just now, we have to look at the situation fully first – it’s not a matter that we can answer just now.
“We are committed to providing the service to the fans and giving it back to supporters.
“Any feedback we have received after the final whistle has been in many respects, positive.
“They can see what we’re trying to do, they can see we’re trying to give them live football.
“The commitment to that goes on, we’ll look to remedy these situations and take it further.”
One fan wrote on social media: "Looking forward to seeing what the club has to say on this. Fully expect subscriptions to carry on to next week."
Another asked: "Will Morton be refunding everybody who bought the stream seeing as they missed the start and then streamed it open access to everyone?"
Another posted online: "Anything short of a full refund isn't acceptable. I'm not willing to let them hold onto my tenner in the hope that they might have it working for the next home game. They can demonstrate the product first, then I'll pay for it."
Among dozens of other comments, one poster said they would demand a refund, adding that what had happened was 'not good enough'.
There was also criticism of the quality of the camera footage shown on YouTube, but fans praised the commentary team of PR man Gerry McDade and club legend Andy Ritchie.
