A MAN has been charged with dangerous driving after allegedly leading police on a 25-mile pursuit from Greenock to the M74 motorway — which involved the use of a force helicopter.
The incident began at around 1.30pm on Monday when plain-clothes officers reported a Kia Niro vehicle being driven erratically on the eastbound A8.
Sergeant Jason Logsdon, of Greenock police, said: "Assistance from a marked police vehicle was requested to stop the car to check all was in order however the vehicle allegedly failed to stop despite being instructed to do so a number of times.
"Road policing officers and a police helicopter joined the pursuit whereby the car was eventually boxed safely by road policing officers and the driver arrested at Junction 2 of the M74 in Glasgow."
A 31-year-old man was arrested and has been reported to the fiscal.
