SENIOR councillor Chris McEleny has welcomed the publication of a review that will limit the use of fireworks if it is implemented.
In a report to the Scottish Government by the Fireworks Review Group, recommendations include restricting the days and times that fireworks can be set off, as well as local communities having a say in creating zones that the setting off of fireworks would be prohibited.
Mr McEleny recently called in the Telegraph for for new restrictions in advance of the fireworks review.
He said: "I and many other people in Inverclyde see fireworks as nothing more than a nuisance.
"New restrictions that would limit the days and times fireworks can be set off - stopping people setting them off for weeks on end - is good news for dog owners.
"The prospect of the community also being involved in deeming zones as areas that fireworks should not be set off is something I think members of the community will also welcome."
