THE head teacher of a Gourock school hit by coronavirus has written to parents to send a message of reassurance.

The Tele reported on Friday how no fewer than six classes at Moorfoot Primary have been closed due to positive Covid-19 cases.

In her letter to mums and dads head teacher Alison Irvine said: "I completely understand many of you will have worries relating to Covid-19 in our school community this week.

"I felt compelled to get in touch to reassure and allay any fears or concerns you may have."

Ms Irvine advised them that all government guidelines are being 'strictly adhered to'.

She added: "The pupils are happy and we are doing absolutely everything we can to keep them safe.

"We are acting swiftly as soon as we are aware of any changes and responding accordingly.

"We are well prepared if children or classes are self-isolating, with planned learning ready to be issued to our learners on the first day of home learning.

"This is what is happening for six of our classes at the current time."

Four remaining classes plus the nursery and Garvel deaf unit are unaffected.
