POLICE have issued a fresh appeal to trace a gang of armed masked masked men who threatened a person at knifepoint.
Officers were called to a disturbance at a house in Branchton Road at 7.30pm on Friday where a window was also smashed before the group made off in a black car.
Police have now revealed they tried to halt the vehicle in Drumfrochar Road but it evaded them before eventually being pulled over on Auchmountain Road in Greenock.
As an officer approached the vehicle, it sped off, forcing him to jump out of its path before it collided with a police car.
Enquiries continue to identify the males involved, although police have made one arrest.
Local Area Commander Paul Cameron said: "This was a completely irresponsible act that has resulted in an officer being injured and a police vehicle being damaged at the taxpayer's expense. We are appealing to the public to help us identify the other people involved."
Anyone with information is asked to call 101.
