WORK is moving apace to demolish the iconic Greenock Arts Guild.
The derelict building on Campbell Street is being torn down after council officials declared the site unsafe after two recent fires.
Contractors have been tearing down the building that was opened in 1949 and now only the former auditorium and old entrance remain standing as work to clear the whole site continues.
Owners Peel Land & Property were granted a demolition order three years ago and were in protracted talks over plans for housing at the west end site.
Tele photographer George Munro, who took these latest snaps, said: "I took so many great pictures within this famous old building over the years and it is sad to see it come down."
