POLICE stood guard at Gourock Railway Station as part of a crackdown launched to target youth disorder.

Community officers were deployed along with colleagues from British Transport Police on Saturday night.

A metal detector gate was brought in for weapon searches.

Council community wardens were also out on patrol, as authorities try to stamp out anti-social behaviour which has been taking place in the town in recent weeks at trouble hotspots such as Tower Hll.

The offensive is part of a local action plan which aims to stop teenagers using the rail network to travel, meet up and hold such large gatherings.

Police say any anti-social behaviour or youth disorder should be reported to them on 101.
