A SHOPLIFTER allowed bail after plundering £230 worth of items despite having TWENTY pending court cases against her has stolen again.

Rhonda McDonald helped herself to booze and soft drinks from Greenock's Iceland store in her latest failed raid on local retail premises.

The 39-year-old has finally been locked up ahead of having a catalogue of deferred sentence cases dealt with at the sheriff court on December 23.

Early last month she was caught stealing gift sets from Boots in the Oak Mall to the value of £231.50.

She was initially remanded in custody on that matter by Sheriff Joseph Hughes after the lawman told her it was 'too much of a risk' not to lock her up.

But she was subsequently allowed bail.

McDonald's alcohol and fizzy drinks haul at Iceland totalled £11.39.

Defence lawyer David Tod made no motion for bail because his client no longer resides at her mother's home on Clydeview Road and had no other address to offer the court.

McDonald was caught in 2018 rifling through cupboards in a doctor's office and stole what was described in court as 'injectable' medication before fleeing after a nurse walked in on her.

She committed that offence at the Roxburgh Street Medical Practice.

Her previous shoplifting offences include stealing clothes, perfume, jewellery and food at Tesco.

Sheriff Hughes remanded McDonald in custody, telling her: "You have deferred sentences to call for multiple other offences, so even if bail was applied for it would not have been appropriate to grant it."
