STAFF at a popular Greenock restaurant got dressed up in their best Christmas clobber to raise money for a very good cause.

The team from The Albany in Orangefield Place donned festive jumpers to generate cash for Save the Children.

The venue usually host a Christmas fundraiser for the charity but were unable to do so this year due to Covid-19 public health restrictions.

Owner and manager Angela Varty and her colleagues were determined not to let coronavirus stop them from raising funds.

So they opted to get their Christmas clothes on instead.

Siobhan Woods, Amy Black and PJ Bryceland were just some of the employees who joined Angela in her charity mission.

Angela said the fundraiser was a great success.

She told the Tele: "We usually host the annual Save the Children lunch but we obviously couldn't do that this year.

"We still really wanted to do something so we came up with the idea of dressing up in our jumpers for a day and having a collection for the charity.

"We've been overwhelmed by the support shown by staff and customers.

"We haven't counted all of the money up yet but I know that customers have been very generous.

"It's been a difficult year for everyone and it means so much that our staff and customers have chosen to keep supporting us and helping the charity."

Save the Children's Christmas jumper day fundraisers run across the UK.

People of all ages are encouraged to donate in exchange for wearing their festive togs and invited to share the results using #christmasjumperday on social media.
