THE owners and staff at a local car dealership are celebrating after winning a prestigious national award.

Pearson of Wemyss Bay has been crowned Suzuki’s UK dealer of the year.

The dealership was one of six Suzuki centres to win regional awards at the annual national dealer conference – held online due to the pandemic - before it received the ultimate accolade.

Pearson’s award will be presented at a later date.

Managing director David Pearson, 66, whose grandfather John Pearson established the business in 1901, is delighted.

He told the Tele: “It is a great honour to win Suzuki’s National Dealer of the Year 2020 award.

"Our family and much-valued employees have over the many decades strived to deliver the best possible service regarding all aspects of our customers’ motoring requirements.”

Long-serving employees include sales manager Kenny Hyde and service manager John Docherty, both 54, who have been with Pearson’s for 30 years and 35 years respectively.

Kenny said: “We are dedicated to ensuring every customer who buys a new or used Suzuki or any other make of used car is pleased with their purchase.”

A fourth generation of the Pearson family is involved in the business.

David’s son Ross is in charge of the family’s other dealership in Largs and his daughter Emma deals with administration for both outlets.

Suzuki’s National Dealer of the Year award takes into account a variety of factors, including customer satisfaction with the sales and service departments and the percentage of target sales achieved.
