TWO Inverclyde supermarkets teamed up with local charities to give more than 15,000 people food to eat on Christmas Eve.
The Aldi stores in Greenock and Port Glasgow joined forces with other stores across the west of Scotland, community groups and foodbanks, to put unsold fresh and chilled food to good use.
Around 15,137 meals were donated to people in need across the region in time for Christmas and meals were also delivered on Hogmanay.
Luke Peech, managing director of corporate responsibility at Aldi UK, said: "We were pleased to be able to extend the initiative so that we could do what we could for those in need within the community in what was an incredibly tough year."
