A DONATION from two kind-hearted Greenock parents brought three wise alpacas to youngsters at Lady Alice and St Joseph's primaries.

Laura McCafferty and Stacey Windmill have been fundraising for Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity and the John O'Byrne Foundation for the last 18 months.

The thoughtful mums set up a group on Facebook and to date, the raffles and bonus ball competitions have raised around £40,000 for charity.

As Christmas 2020 was going to be different for youngsters, Laura and Stacey decided to put some of the fundraising total towards a treat for the boys and girls at both schools.

The money was used to pay for a visit for three of the animals from Larch Green Alpacas - and the youngsters were delighted to meet them.

Laura is mum to Lady Alice Primary pupil Niamh and Stacey is mum to Riley and Calan who attend St Joseph's.

Laura said: "We just wanted to make things extra special for the kids for Christmas.

"They would normally be going to the panto around this time so we decided to organise something a wee bit different for them.

"They all loved meeting the alpacas and we'd like to thank Linsay for bringing them along."
