A MAN has been charged with assaulting his father to severe injury in an alleged stamping attack.

Charley Malone is said to have punched his dad to the floor within the man's home on Greenock's Togo Place.

It is alleged that the 27-year-old accused proceeded to repeatedly stamp on his body and kick him.

Malone, whose address was not given in court, is further charged with shouting, swearing and throwing a plant pot.

Prosecutors say the alleged offences took place on December 30 in 2019.

Malone has pleaded not guilty and lodged a special defence of self-defence.

Atrial is due to start on February 15.
