A SINGING star in the making hit the right note as she featured on a charity single with Glasgow Philharmonia.

Eight-year-old Isabella Hay, who saw off competition from 150 other hopefuls to land a place in the Movies to Musical extravaganza, has now shown off her singing skills on the 'You Can't Stop The Music' single.

The single, which was released on Sunday, aims to raise money to help young performers looking to keep going in the face of the Covid-19 hardships.

The St John's Primary pupil is the youngest member of the group.

Isabella said: "I enjoyed recording the single, it was fun and nice to see some of my friends while I was there.

"We got together in small groups to record it up in Glasgow."

The youngster, who lives with her mum Mariann and dad John in Kingston Dock in Port Glasgow, is also a member of the Songbird Singing group and Inverclyde Musical Youth Theatre.

She was supposed to be performing with the Movies to Musicals cast at a touring concert in May, however due to coronavirus the show has been postponed until further notice.

Isabella has been a pupil at the local Jackson studios since she was two years old and studies both Highland and stage dancing.

Her mum says she is 'so proud' of her daughter's efforts.

Mariann told the Tele: "She's doing so well and has managed to stay positive despite her usual activities not happening.

"She loved recording the single and is looking forward to the group's residential stay at Ardentinny as soon as it's allowed.

"It's such a shame that Isabella and her cast mates have missed out on so many experiences, but they're all making the most of what they can."

*'You Can't Stop The Music' is available on all streaming platforms with all proceeds raised going to charity.
