PEOPLE in Inverclyde are being urged not to be taken in by fraudsters trying to cash in on the coronavirus vaccination programme.

MSP Jamie Greene is warning households to be on their guard over text messages from criminals offering Covid-19 vaccines.

The messages invite people to follow a link to a website where they are then asked to input their bank details.

Other people have received calls asking for payment by card over the phone.

Mr Greene said: “You will never be asked to pay for a Covid-19 vaccine and it is only the NHS that will contact you about your vaccination.

“People should be extra vigilant and report suspicious activity."
