THE talents of a teenage singing sensation who defied all the odds as a baby have attracted attention from listeners across the globe.

Sixteen-year-old Erin Dunn, who was born 12 weeks early and weighed just 1lb 5oz, has amassed hundreds of likes on social media on her singing videos.

The St Stephen's High pupil created the Facebook page after encouragement from her mum, Lynne Convery, and singing tutor Suzie O'Donoghue of Songbird Singing, and her clips have reached thousands of listeners.

Erin, who hopes to become a theatre nurse after she leaves school, told the Tele: "I've always been musical and have loved singing but didn't have confidence at first.

"I got a guitar for my Christmas in 2019 and all throughout lockdown I taught myself how to play.

"It gave me something to focus on.

"I've really enjoyed it and would love to do music professionally in some sense when I leave school."

As well as performing hits from chart-toppers Niall Horan and Lewis Capaldi, Erin has penned and recorded her own material, including a song inspired by personal events titled 'Not Mine'.

The S5 pupil lives with Lynne and her 12-year-old sister Ellie in Port Glasgow and is also supported by her dad John Dunn in her musical efforts.

The talented teen has been studying Advanced Higher music in school a year earlier than usual and has also received an award for her efforts.

Proud mum Lynne, who works in King's Oak Primary School in Greenock, says she is Erin's 'biggest cheerleader'.

The 40-year-old said: "I'm always pushing her to upload to the page as I'm so keen for her to put her talents out there.

"I am so proud of her and always share her songs, she's really good and it's been brilliant watching her teach herself the guitar.

"When Erin was wee her teachers ended up knowing the words to the songs from High School Musical as she would go around singing the songs all the time!

"She was definitely meant to perform."
