A RECRUITMENT drive is under way to appoint six new social workers in Inverclyde.

Staff are being taken on as part of an expansion of support services for children in Inverclyde.

Inverclyde Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) is taking on two new social workers and recruiting a further four people to fill existing posts.

The extra positions have been created mainly due to an expansion of local children’s services, which was already in the pipeline, but also to help with recovering from the pandemic.

Councillor Robert Moran, Inverclyde’s health and social care convener, said: “There’s no doubting that a career in social work can be a challenging one but it can also be hugely rewarding by making a real difference to the lives of our young people."
