WORK is well under way on the new extension at Rainbow Family Centre in Port Glasgow.
The nursery is being expanded as part of a major £4.6m investment which also includes a brand new nursery in Larkfield in Greenock.
Education bosses hope to have the project at the Oronsay Avenue facility finished in time for the beginning of the 2021/22 term.
The extension will create an extra 64 spaces for three to five year olds.
The money is being spent to deliver the Scottish Government's flagship policy of increasing the entitlement of free early learning and childcare from 600 hours to 1,140 hours a year.
