LAWYERS across Inverclyde are will-ing to help a local cancer charity by offering free online consultations.

Three local firms are inviting people in Inverclyde to have their will written or amended at no cost to them.

Instead, the lawyers - Kingsley Wood & Co, McClure Solicitors and Neill Clerk & Murray - ask that those making use of the service make a donation to Ardgowan Hospice.

Kingsley Wood in Kilmacolm is gearing up to hold the first consultation.

He will be offering his expertise to clients on Tuesday in aid of the hospice.

Kingsley, who set up his practice at Burnside Chambers in Kilmacolm in 1993, told the Tele: "We have been offering this service to Ardgowan Hospice for over 10 years and we always have a good number of people looking to offer their support.

"We invite people to make a donation the equivalent cost to a will for the service and there is also the opportunity to leave a gift for Ardgowan too within their will.

"With the circumstances of the past year, many people are choosing to create or amend their will, so we will be to help those individuals who in turn will hopefully help the hospice."

Hospice supporters wishing to take advantage of the scheme will be able to make a donation amount of their choosing, with the suggested amounts being between £95 to £120 for a basic will and £150 for a couple.

McClure Solicitors will be holding their will surgery on February 4, while people can make an appointment with Neill Clerk & Murray for their surgery on February 17.

Ardgowan fundraising officer Elaine McNeill is hoping local people will decide to make an effort to support individuals living with life-limiting illness, particularly during these uncertain times.

Elaine said: "We are very grateful to our partnering solicitors for their support.

"This is an important and personal thing, especially in light of recent times, so we want to first and foremost make sure people are just ensuring they have made a will.

"Any help they can offer the hospice, whether that be a one-off donation or a gift in their will, is greatly appreciated to us.

"The care of one-in-seven patients is funded by gifts in wills, so this allows us to continue to offer specialist supportive care to patients and their families."
