THE post office in Wemyss Bay is to close down following the resignation of the operator and the withdrawal of the premises.
The branch on Ardgowan Road will 'close temporarily on March 9 at 1pm', say Post Office bosses.
They added that they are 'working hard' to keep the closure period to a minimum and say that customers will be directed to the upper Skelmorlie branch or the facility in Auchmead Road, Greenock in the interim.
The Post Office said: "We are currently investigating the options available which will enable us to
reinstate a Post Office service to the local community.
"In exploring this, it is important that any future service is sustainable for the person operating the service, and for Post Office Limited."
