MORTON boss Anton McElhone has solved his goalkeeping conundrum with the addition of former Tottenham and England ‘C’ team goalkeeper Jamie Butler.

The 28-year-old joins on a deal that runs until the end of the season and will provide some much-needed experience as well as competition for current number one Aidan McAdams.

Butler most recently turned out for Sutton United in the National League, making 100 appearances for The Yellows, keeping 27 clean sheets.

It is thought that the shot-stopper will carry out a coaching role at Cappielow as well as providing cover for McAdams.

He becomes Anton McElhone’s second signing of the week after Spurs youngster Kazaiah Sterling penned a loan deal until the end of the season.

McElhone had said he was looking to add to his attacking and goalkeeping departments earlier this week.
