GREENOCK Town Hall is likely to remain as a mass vaccination centre for most of the rest of 2021.

It was one of 16 sites recently opened by NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde health board and has been making good progress with the vaccination programme.

Board bosses say that at full capacity it will be able to vaccinate 1,000 people a day.

Once the priority groups for inoculation are dealt with, the task of moving on to the general population between the ages of 18 and 50 will begin - and the town hall looks set to play a key role in that push.

In a new report, council bosses say it is 'foreseeable that the vaccination centre at the Greenock Town Hall could easily be operational until the end of the year delivering first and second doses to the whole population' of the district.
