INVERCLYDE workers have been safeguarded from compulsory redundancies at a manufacturing and engineering factory in Renfrewshire.

Almost 600 people - including a sizeable local contingent - at the Rolls-Royce Inchinnan site, which produces turbine blades and aerofoils, have been promised job security for at least five years.

The decision was made after bosses pledged to work with Unite to bring new work to Inchinnan.
