A MAN suspected of a drugs offence in Larkfield allegedly drove a car 'at speed' towards police officers.
William Rodger, 25, was on foot on Dorset Road and Oxford Road when two PCs wanted to stop and search him, prosecutors say.
It is claimed by the Crown that Rodger got into a car before driving at the officers and causing them to take evasive action to avoid being struck.
He is further charged with later driving off at Braeside Road and striking a male PC on the body with the vehicle.
The alleged offences are said to have been committed on October 15, 2019.
Rodger, of Innes Park Road, Skelmorlie, had pleas of not guilty maintained in his absence from Greenock Sheriff Court by lawyer Edel McGinty.
A trial is due to take place next month.
