INVERCLYDE Leisure bosses are feeling teed off after mindless vandals went on the rampage at Whinhill Golf Course.
Mindless yobs drove on to the course off Old Largs Road and churned up the sixth green, leaving deep tyre tracks all over it around the flag.
A hunt has now been launched to find the people responsible.
The damage was discovered in the early hours of Friday morning and will cost a significant sum to repair, leaving greenkeepers dismayed.
Inverclyde Leisure, who own the 18-hole course, say the incident is 'irresponsible and inconsiderate'.
After a picture was posted online showing the mess of the green, players slammed the joyriders as 'selfish' and 'brain-dead idiots'.
Bosses are now appealing for help to trace the yobs and are asking anyone with information to come forward.
David McCorkindale, head of leisure and communities at IL, said: "We are sorry to announce that we have had some irresponsible and inconsiderate people who have vandalised Whinhill Golf Course.
"This is a public space and we feel for the groundsmen who do so much to look after the facility.
"We aren't sure of the costs involved in repairing the area as of yet.
"If anyone has information on this matter we'd ask them to get in touch."
This is the second such vandal attack to hit a local course in less than a year.
Last May, morons ripped across Port Glasgow Golf Club course in a 4x4 vehicle and churned up a fairway during a rampage of destruction.
Anyone with information about the Whinhill criminal damage can get in touch with Inverclyde Leisure or report it to the police on 101.
