AN anti-poverty organisation is helping people battle through the latest lockdown.

Belville Community Garden's climate change officer Sue Harris is continuing to deliver supply boxes to those in need.

The project recently secured a climate change grant of £21,000 to purchase another electric van to boost its efforts.

Sue says the team are turning donations from supermarkets into hearty meals for struggling households.

She said: "I am so passionate about what we do here and we are continuing to help those who need it most."

During the festive season, the project helped distribute 200 unwanted supermarket turkeys to families, care homes and other organisations across Inverclyde.

Sue added: "The food waste we see is incredible - and this is only in one town."
