THE government must do more to ensure lower-income families claim a new benefit, says a Holyrood hopeful.
Around 1,000 applications have been made locally for the new Scottish Child Payment.
But Labour election candidate Francesca Brennan says the Scottish Government must reach more people with the new benefit, which gives families £10 a week for every child under six.
Ms Brennan said: “It’s time for the government to pull out all the stops to ensure that all those eligible for the payment get it.
"This must include automation of the benefit to ensure 100 per cent uptake.
