A SCHOOLGIRL is halfway to realising her ambition to volunteer in Malawi partly thanks to the sizzling success of her beefburgers.
Grace Lynch, 17, has thrown herself into fundraising £7,000 to pay for her year-long mission with Project Trust.
The teenager, who works part-time at Robert Alexander's butchers in Port Glasgow, created a special burger inspired by Malawi - and they are flying off the shelves.
Owner Drew McKenzie said: "Grace made a promise to send a personal letter to all of those who spent £25 buying eight burgers - I think she will need a secretary!
"The burgers continue to sell and people buy them again because they taste so good.
"Grace has raised around £600 from burger sales and is halfway there to her £7,000 target.
"Folk have been so kind, people have been coming into the shop handing in £20 in an envelope.
"One guy on Saturday called Tommy handed an envelope to one of our staff in the street and there was £50 inside it."
