A PORT man armed himself with a bottle and tried to rob a shop, it's alleged.
Derek King targeted the Supersave convenience store on Cromdale Road on Boxing Day last year, prosecutors say.
King, 27, is accused of brandishing a bottle at a male employee whilst making threats of violence and demanding he open the till.
The Crown says King did this 'with intent to rob him'.
He is further charged with stealing alcohol and sweets from the shop and is said to have engaged in a stand-up fight with another person, again brandished a bottle, behaved aggressively towards two police officers and struggled violently with them.
King appeared at Greenock Sheriff Court via a video link from prison and pleaded not guilty through lawyer Gerry Keenan.
A sheriff and jury trial has been scheduled for July.
