WE can reveal the best Scottish fish and chip shops of 2021 - but did any from Inverclyde make the shortlist?
Fry Magazine have announced their best 50 fish and chip takeaway places throughout the UK - and six Scottish ones made the list.
Each business was judged from the quality of the food and customer service to their social media presence and their Covid safe practices.
Once again, the food remained the main focus, with all outlets assessed on the flakiness of the fish, the crispness of the chips and the crunch of the batter, alongside value for money.
And even despite the challenges and restrictions posed by Covid, entrants didn’t let standards slip with the benchmark to pass set at 97 per cent for takeaways - the highest in the awards’ history.
The Scottish winners for 2021 are:
1. Dunkeld Fish Bar, Dunkeld, Perth and Kinross
2. East Coast, Musselburgh, East Lothian
3. McLeod's Fish and Chips, Inverness
4. The Cafe Royal, Annan, Dumfriesshire
5. The Fish Works, Largs, North Ayrshire
6. The Plaice to Be, Kilmarnock, East Ayrshire
Do you think any of Inverclyde's should have made a 'frying visit' to the top 50?
