TWO bowling clubs in Gourock have won grants from the council worth a total of £5,000.

Gourock Bowling Club has received £2,000 to put towards a deep clean of the premises in line with Covid hygiene requirements.

Gourock Park Bowling Club has meanwhile been awarded £3,000 to cover Covid hygiene, operational costs and greens upkeep while its income remains affected by the pandemic.

The money comes from the final 2020-21 round of funding from the council's Grants to Voluntary Organisations scheme.

Over 30 Inverclyde community and sports groups were awarded a share of more than £70,000 by the local authority.
