SOCCER stars of the future have honed their skills at a fun football camp during the holidays.

Notre Dame High School's pitches played host to rookie P1s to accomplished P7s as Morton in the Community coaches put players through their paces.

Veteran coach Paddy McAlees had the P1-P3 group and said he was 'thrilled' to be back on the pitch doing what he loves.

Paddy said: "I've been with Morton in the Community for seven years and had 15 years coaching before that.

"We've been off since last March apart from a month's spell in October so I can't stress how good it is to be back.

"Even a couple of months ago when we knew we would be able to manage a camp, that just lifted my spirits."

Jonny Roy, health project worker with the Ton trust, said: "It's fantastic to be back and have some face to face contact with the kids and they are just loving it.

"You can tell by their cheers."

Older youngsters were revelling in being back in action too.

Coach Niamh Watt said: "We had to stop because of the pandemic but now it's re-opened for the under nine and 11s.

"They are so excited to get back into playing football and playing as part of a team.
