A Greenock supermarket's community-minded efforts raised over £300 for sick children across Scotland.

Morrisons staff held a fundraising day in store in a bid to raise vital funds for the Glasgow Children's Hospital which provides specialist care to young patients.

Community champion at the Dellingburn Street shop, Carol Mountain, organised a stall where items such as sweetie cones, crocheted hearts and trolley tokens were sold - resulting in a £345.24 windfall being raised.

Carol said: "I am really chuffed to have raised such a good amount for a brilliant cause.

"The amount of people who stopped by to say the charity had supported their own family or people they knew made it very worthwhile.

"The people of Inverclyde always get behind anything we do at Morrisons." On hand to collect the cheque was Head of Trusts at the charity, Adam Kelly, who said: "I am from Inverclyde so it is lovely to see fundraising like this on my doorstep.

"38 stores across Scotland got involved to raise funds, so I'm thankful to Carol and the team for doing something here in Greenock.

"Their support makes a massive difference."
