GREENOCK actor Martin Compston has missed out on the chance of a BAFTA - because of when the new series of Line of Duty was broadcast.

The smash hit is missing from the shortlist because it was released after the deadline to qualify this year’s nominations.

To be eligible, programmes had to be transmitted in the period between January 1 2020 and January 8 this year.

Line of Duty didn’t land on our screens until March 21, so will now be in the running for the 2022 awards.

Martin has won widespread praise for his role as anti-corruption officer Steve Arnott, with the hit drama's latest episode drawing 11m viewers.

The final episode of the current series will be shown tonight at 9pm.
