With a record-number of fans tuning in to the Line of Duty finale last night, fans of Greenock born actor Martin Compston have been wondering when he'll next return to television screens.

However, fans of DI Steve Arnott need not worry as the BBC offered a first glimpse of a tense trailer for new thriller 'Vigil' starring the much-loved Greenockian during the credits for the series finale of Line Of Duty last night.

From the creators of the hit police drama and Bodyguard, the gripping crime drama is a six-part series following the mysterious disappearance of a Scottish fishing trawler.

Some of the scenes for the much anticipated series were filmed at Hunterston and on the Isle of Cumbrae.

Starring alongside the Sweet Sixteen actor will be Gentleman Jack star Suranne Jones, Peep Show's Paterson Joseph and Stephen Dillane, Daniel Portman and Rose Leslie, all known for their roles in Game of Thrones.

The show is written by Bafta-nominated writer Tom Edge and produced by World Productions, which is part of ITV Studios.

Vigil is set to air later this year on BBC One and iPlayer, with more information on the release date expected in the coming months.
