TWO alleged blade attackers and a son accused of stamping on his father to severe injury are among cases set to call during the latest jury trials sitting at Greenock Sheriff Court, which commences today.

Kevin Campbell, 42, is accused of striking his ex-partner with a knife or similar implement and also repeatedly punching her.

Prosecutors say that Campbell, of Prospecthill Street, carried out the claimed attack at a property Old Inverkip Road on December 28 in 2019 whilst on bail regarding another criminal matter.

He is also accused of stealing a knife and money during the alleged incident.

Assault accused Charley Malone, 27, is charged with punching his father to the floor and repeatedly stamping on his body and kicking him.

The alleged attack to severe injury is said to have taken place within a property on Greenock's Togo Place on December 30, 2019.

Malone has lodged a special defence of self defence.

Kyle McFarlane, 21, is charged with trying to knife a woman at an address on Branchton Road last September.

He is also accused of brandishing a blade at a man and holding it against his head.

Prosecutors say he attempted to strike the woman on the body with a knife.

The Crown says he was subject to four bail orders regarding other criminal matters at the time of the alleged offences.

All of the accused maintained pleas of not guilty to the charges against them at previous callings of their cases.
