An Inverclyde bus company put the wheels in motion to help a local litter picking group keep the area free of rubbish.

McGill's Managing Director, Ralph Roberts, arranged for volunteers at the Literati Guide to Inverclyde group to be kitted out in new hi-vis vests.

He handed over the vests to founder of the group, Stephen Henry, at Lunderston Bay in Gourock where volunteers were working to rid the beach of litter and debris.

Ralph told the Tele: "McGill’s have been working very hard in recent years to minimise our impact upon the environment, culminating in our recent £27m project to introduce 68 zero emission buses later this year.

"When we heard that the volunteers that make up Literati Guide to Inverclyde give up their own time to keep our community clean and tidy, we were happy to get involved.

"I’m delighted that we were able to help them out with the design of their new logo and provide new hi-vis vests to keep them safe as they go about protecting our local beauty spots from litter louts."
