TINY tots at a Greenock nursery are embracing the great outdoors with the help of a local grassroots charity.

Lady Alice Nursery have made their outdoor area more eco-friendly by introducing plants and vegetable growing areas at their Gateside Avenue establishment.

The Inverclyde Shed team was on hand to dig deep and lend the kids a hand.

Bruce Newlands from the Shed helped the youngsters to plant potatoes, sweet peas and other vegetables in their garden.

The nursery received a kind donation and staff wanted to put it to good use by creating an outdoor greenspace to aid the youngsters' learning.

The busy nursery looks after 24 youngsters aged three to five.

The kids have been making the most of their outdoor area despite all the changeable and somewhat unseasonal weather we have been experiencing lately in Inverclyde.

Leanne McIntosh, a senior member of staff at the nursery, told the Tele: "We have been learning all about nature in the nursery, so we decided to invest in some outdoor plantpots that the children can help look after.

"We enlisted the help of Bruce so we would have a better idea of what would work in our garden.

"The kids are absolutely loving it so far.

"We know that in the coming months this is going to brighten the whole place up."
