THE move to open a recycling centre at a disused Gourock quarry is going to cost £300k more than expected.
Inverclyde Council wants to shut the Kirn Drive depot and switch operations to Craigmuschat Quarry, off Broomberry Drive.
A new report reveals the project will cost £500,000 due to drainage, removal of existing structures and former weighbridge foundations.
A £200k budget had been set aside for it.
The quarry site was used as a temporary dump back in 2019, while work was carried out at Kirn Drive, and it proved a success.
