A REVIEW of Covid-19 operating arrangements at Greenock Sheriff Court has resulted in an increase in the number of summary trials that can take place in each court room.
From today a fixed trial load of five cases per court room has been moved to allocating cases to the 'maximum safe capacity' for each court room.
The Scottish Courts & Tribunals Service says that this will add flexibility whilst safely managing footfall rather than the number of cases.
Justice of the Peace court cases will resume from June 7 along the same new guidelines.
The SCTS said: "Safety remains our top priority.
"While the need for physical distancing remains, the guidance for court and tribunal users who need to come to our buildings is unchanged.
"We will continue to take all the right steps in keeping our buildings safe as restrictions ease."
Face coverings must continue to be worn at all times when moving around the court building.
